Our Science
At Gummiex, we believe you should be able to see what is in your supplement and why. This page explains each ingredient in plain language, what published research says about it, and what research can and cannot tell you.
What is in each serving
One serving is 2 gummies:
- Vitamin D3 (as cholecalciferol): 50 mcg (2,000 IU), 250% Daily Value
- Magnesium Complex: 350 mg, 83% Daily Value, made of 10 forms: glycinate, citrate, malate, aspartate, carbonate, gluconate, lactate, oxide, ascorbate, and taurate
- Zinc (as zinc gluconate): 10 mg, 91% Daily Value
- Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) 10:1 extract: 500 mg
- L-Theanine: 200 mg
A Daily Value has not been established for ashwagandha or L-theanine. The complete Supplement Facts panel is on your bottle and on our product page.
The ingredients, one by one
Magnesium Complex: ten forms in one
Magnesium is an essential mineral. According to the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, it is a cofactor in more than 300 enzyme systems in the body, including those involved in protein synthesis and muscle and nerve function. Dietary surveys in the United States consistently show that many people consume less than the recommended amount of magnesium from food.
Magnesium comes in many forms, and absorption differs from form to form. The NIH notes that small studies found the aspartate, citrate, and lactate forms are absorbed more completely than magnesium oxide. Our Magnesium Complex includes all three, together with seven other forms, so you are not relying on any single one.
Vitamin D3
Vitamin D supports bone health and immune function. We use vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), 50 mcg or 2,000 IU per serving.
Zinc
According to the NIH, zinc supports a healthy immune system and is needed for wound healing and DNA synthesis. We use zinc gluconate, a commonly used form of zinc.
Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a plant that has been used for centuries in traditional Ayurvedic practice. We use a 10:1 extract at 500 mg per serving, to help support a balanced response to everyday stress.
L-Theanine
L-Theanine is an amino acid found naturally in green tea. Each serving has 200 mg, included to support relaxation.
What the research says
Below are three published clinical studies on single ingredients in our formula. We share them so you can read the research yourself. These studies tested individual ingredients, not Gummiex. The amounts, forms, and participants are different from our gummy, so please read them as background and not as a promise of results.
- Magnesium (Abbasi et al., 2012): 46 older adults with primary insomnia took 500 mg of magnesium or a placebo daily for 8 weeks. The magnesium group had better scores for insomnia severity, sleep efficiency, sleep time, and time to fall asleep.
- Ashwagandha (Langade et al., 2019): 60 adults with insomnia and anxiety took a root extract (KSM-66) at 300 mg twice a day or a placebo for 10 weeks. The ashwagandha group had better scores for sleep quality, time to fall asleep, and sleep efficiency. The extract in Gummiex is a different, 10:1 extract.
- L-Theanine (Hidese et al., 2019): 30 healthy adults took 200 mg a day or a placebo for 4 weeks. Scores for sleep latency and sleep disturbance were lower with L-theanine. Our serving has the same 200 mg.
Please remember: two of these studies were done in people with insomnia. Gummiex is a dietary supplement and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Individual results may vary.
Building a routine that lasts
A supplement works best as part of a steady habit. In research from University College London (Lally et al., 2010), volunteers repeated a new daily behavior for 12 weeks. The behavior felt more automatic quickly at first, then levelled off. It took a median of 66 days to feel automatic, and it ranged from 18 to 254 days from person to person. Missing an occasional day did not derail the process.
One bottle of Gummiex lasts 45 days, so two bottles take you past that 66-day mark.
Using Gummiex safely
- Take 2 gummies once a day, as directed. Do not take more than the directions say.
- Some people notice loose stools, nausea, or stomach cramps with magnesium supplements, especially at higher amounts.
- Talk to your healthcare provider before using Gummiex if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have a kidney condition. Magnesium can interact with some medicines, such as certain antibiotics and osteoporosis medicines.
- Keep out of reach of children. If you have a bad reaction, stop use and contact your healthcare provider.
